Futurama Premeires Tonight!
If you're a huge Futurama/Matt Groening/Simpsons style drawing fan tonight is the night you've been waiting for. Futurama premieres on Comedy Central tonight at 10pm. I guess I'm a little late, but just in case you didn't know you can tune in now or scan for the repeats. I'm personally not a fan of the series, but I just want to support Matt Groening and any fans out there with this post. Enjoy having you're fave show back.

FIFA World Cup
While the Simpsons are in repeat and the summer shows have yet to begin, the perfect distraction is Football! By football I mean soccer of course. The World Cup started this past Friday and so far the games (especially the USA vs. England game) have been pretty good. I watched my first World Cup in 2006 and it's great for it to return with the players I still remember. The games are daily and air on ABC and ESPN. I encourage you to check at least one USA game before the cup ends on july 11th.
Also check out the Nike Football ad below. At around 2:22 you see Ronaldo kicking the ball past Homer. Who says Ronal-doh! Gotta luv it. The Simpsons are everywhere.

Bart Gets An F?
Well, I have to say I have never paid much attention to the names of Simpsons episodes until recently. So, I was really surprised when I saw the title of tonight's 7pm episode of the Simpsons. I now know the recent episode of The Simpsons "Bart Gets a Z" is a play on this early title "Bart Gets an F."
I'm really happy that they are showing these first episodes of the show every night because now I have more time to pay attention to see things like titles.
But other than that tonight is all about the Bad Girls Club. If you don't watch this show, start now! One of the best guilty pleasures on television. I don't condone violence, but this episode will have some serious drama, so if you're into that tune in!!!!
By the way, don't think I forgot to do a recap for "Thursdays with Abie." It is up now!

"Once Upon a Time in Springfield" Recap

Well, this was certainly a very average 450th episode of The Simpsons. I remember the 300th episode with Tony Hawk and it had many laugh out loud moments, but for some reason I really couldn't get into this episode...maybe because I knew the 20th Anniversary Special was following it, but here is brief recap.
Well, the episode started with Krusty being told that he no longer appeals to young girls and so the network execs decided to bring in a character named Princess Penelope. Princess Penelope, voiced by Anne Hathaway, sings, wears dresses and frolicks with Unicorns. So, naturally girls love her. After a while they decide to kick Krusty off the show.
Krusty is encouraged by Bart to plan a comeback, but when Krusty goes to confront the princess he learns that she has always been in love with him. She was even part of his fan club. As a couple they form a new Krusty show where they sing love songs to eachother and girls love it.
Meanwhile, Homer is disappointed that the Nuclear Plant no longer provides free doughnuts. A recruiter at the Capital City Nuclear Plant overhears Homer, Lenny and Carl's complaints and tries to get them to work at his plant. There they woudl be treated better and receive doughnuts as usual. However, as they are leaving Mr. Burns convinces them to stay by offering doughnuts made with the finest sugar and fried in the fat of extinct animals.
Krusty and Penelope have decided to have a Jewish wedding. Bart and Milhouse try to stop their wedding by bringing in Krusty's past wives like the late Eartha Kitt. Krusty decides to not ruin Penelopes life by marrying her. They then cut to a scene of Penelope heart broken and singing outside a restaurant in Paris. Krusty finds her there and they are happy together. The episode ends with the lines "Thanks for 20 wonderful years. The best is yet to come." It was initially supposed to say "Thanks for 20 wonderful years. Now stay turned for three Seth MacFarlane shows,” but they changed it since the special followed the show instead of the Family Guy, American Dad, and the Cleveland Show. In the second airing of the episode it said something else, but unfortunately I can't remember it right now. Guess I'll have to wait for another repeat.
Overall, like I already said it was an okay episode. Not too many laughs, but it was nice to see that they do have girly shows in The Simpsons universe. I didn't know Anne Hathaway could sing or put on a strong Long Island accent like that. I also liked the scenes in Paris which were beautifully drawn as usual. It makes me miss Paris although I was only there for two days.

Early Emmy Win for Dan Castellaneta

BBC News has reported that "Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer Simpson, won his fourth Emmy in the voice-over category. "
Isn't that awesome! I mean Dan's voice is so special and has entertained us for soo many years, so I think that we can all agree he deserved it. Season 20 has had it's ups and downs, but you can always count on Dan for an awesome performance.

The Simpsons to Commemorate the King of Pop

I'm back. The Simpsons are making news again and this time it has to do with Michael Jackson. EW is reporting that this Sunday, Fox will air the 1991 episode “Stark Raving Dad,” the episode where Homer meets a mental patient who claims to be Michael Jackson. According to the source, Michael Jackson actually voiced the character (this was news to me). I thinking this a fitting/Simpsonized tribute to the King of Pop.
I am soo excited to write the recap for that episode especially with MJ being in the news all day everyday. I will miss his presence, but his music will live on.
Okay, the episode airs this Sunday at 8pm.
...In other news Big Brother 11 begins next week! So EXCITED!!

Simpsons Recap and Pop Culture News on Alice in Wonderland Pics Coming Soon
Hey last nights episode of the Simpsons was a bit complicated so my recap/review will be short because I can't include all the details so I won't. That will be up tomorrow.
In PoP Culture news, I am going to do a small post on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland because the pics are terrifyingly inspiring :)
I'll get it posted later, so come back soon.
Until tomorrow!

Update: Here is the pic!
Tell me that doesn't make you want to see this movie. When a movie stars Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp you know it's going to be haunting. Lets not forget the taste of Tim Burton's style. When they cast Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter I knew she would be dark and sadistic like her character. Even Anne Hathaway looks enchantingly eerie. You can tell that this movie is going to be rich with color and fun and a bit spooky. Alan Rickman is going to play the voice of the Caterpillar so that makes two Harry Potter stars in the movie. Oh well, we'll have to wait til 2010.
Well tomorrow I might see a Transformers Revenge of the Fallen in IMAX screening, so I might have a review of that tomorrow along with my Simpsons Recap if I can get around to it. Are you excited for the Transformers movie to come out? I am; especially if I could go for free.Until tomorrow!

Starting a Blog
Welcome to my Simpsons blog. I felt compelled to start a blog about the Simpsons because I did a search and could not find any decent blogs about the Simpsons. I've seen reviews and synopses(?) under tv.com and tvguide, but no wholesome blogs. This might have been a result of my searching skills (Google can be difficult at times I guess), the fact that shows like Family Guy rule television now, or that it is illegal (I guess I'll see soon). But I guess I'll try some more research later.
As for now I decided that my blog will be in the same style as the EW.com recaps. A synopsis mixed with personal insights about the new episodes that air on Sundays. I might also squeeze in some blogs about episodes that are on during the week and I will definitely find time to blog about my favorite episodes (por ejemplo The Trilogy of Errors).
As for now, I am still a very busy college student, trying to finish up my last semester. My writing skills are okay, but I know I am prone to many errors (especially if I don't proof my writing a million times, so I hope there is an edit option on blogspot). But anyway...
Welcome to my blog and return for some recaps in the future!
